Hyannis Half Marathon

**EDIT:  I have extended my offer to donate $2 per person who donates until midnight on Sunday.  Let's see how much money we can raise during this challenge! We have already passed the $1,000 mark! Thank you all! :)

We had a wonderful time down at Cape Cod this weekend for the Hyannis Half Marathon.  We stopped by the race expo Saturday afternoon to pick up our bib numbers and race packets.  I was lucky enough to meet Dick Beardsley there (he holds the course record at Grandma's Marathon in Duluth).  I used his training plans for my first two marathons and we had a great chat- mostly about Minnesota and how great it is :)  It was a very meaningful and memorable experience to be able to meet one of my marathon idols.

He even autographed my race number :)

After the race expo, we headed down to Harwich to meet our friends Stephanie and Mike for our pre race dinner.  They were excellent hosts- thanks for letting us stay with you guys!! We really appreciate it!

This morning was perfect running weather- partly cloudy and in the 40's.  We all had great runs with Stephanie meeting her race goal, Will finishing his first half marathon and I was able to complete my first running race since having my appendix out last fall.  It was a great racing day and a fabulous time with friends!

We made it!

I have a lot of training and work to do before the Boston Marathon in 8 weeks, but I am getting more excited for the race each week!  I am so grateful for the support of all of you as I embark on this journey- I couldn't do it without the kind texts, words of motivation, phone calls, donations and sharing of my blog that you do!  Thank you so much!!

I am still standing by my offer to pitch in $2 for every person who donates by midnight tonight- so far 3 people have donated today!  We are up to $800 and slowly working our way towards my fundraising goal of $7,000.  Please consider a donation- even $5 makes a huge impact in the race to the ultimate finish line- a world without cancer!  Every single penny donated goes directly towards funding innovative cancer research.

Thank you again to all of my supporters and donors- I appreciate you all more than words can express!
